I think it is all under control, at the moment

It has been a busy week getting all the admin type things done, and organizing and getting my work ready to hang. I went to the Print Hub on campus and printed off 30 A4 size programs on gorgeous paper. They look awesome. And, sigh, as I knew would happen, even after multiple proofreading sessions by different people, as soon as I sat down with a printed copy I found two formatting issues (not important) and two errors in the listing of the works. Oh bother. However, nothing too earth shattering in the scheme of things. I also printed off 92 greeting cards of my Anthropocene of the Crime painting series from my Fine Art Thesis project. I did two sets of 46 images (I left out the species that probably wouldn't be as popular... i.e. crayfish and burying beetle.) They turned out great. Again at the Print Hub as costs are so reasonable there! I took my own cards in - saves on cutting and folding later, as well as not paying for paper. These will be for sale at the show and then left at...

I'd forgotten how long putting together programs and marketing material takes

I'm just finalized my show program. My plan was to have it done by last Friday (it is Sunday now) but here I am still getting the document set-up to print correctly. I'm doing it as a booklet. Was intending to print it myself on A4, then fold to A5. BUT, due to the images and font size, making it A5 would be too small. I'm going to print on A3 and fold to A4 . I'll take a trip up to the Print Hub to get it printed.  I think 30 copies (it is only three sheets per copy) should be enough. Leftover copies will be recycled into art projects. If I run low I could probably print off a few at home overnight but they would have to be stapled. I'm taking a small break from converting all the individual Word pages to JPGs so that I can do the layout for the A3 printed version. Then will run a test print on A4 paper (will just set it to Fit to Page on the printer) to make sure it all works. I created a postcard that I test printed last night - worked out well, but I need better...

More work ready and framed for my show and general progress

Image
I've finished up the rest of the works I planned, and they're all framed. Am in the process of getting "good" photos - these are the interim shots of which some have reflections in so won't have those in the program/catalog! This series I'm calling "Joy" and they are made from offcuts and scraps from all the other work I've been cutting up and weaving. There are five separate pieces in graduated sizes - shown largest to smallest here. The strips are generally identical in width for some scale. I also completed two more of my black abstract series - squares smaller than the first one. Now there are three rectangles and three squares in this set.  I don't think I'm ever going to use up all the chunks of that work! These are the four I had at the crit, so the above two are on the same scale as the two small rectangles. Shown below are cropped prints from the various pulls that I did not use to weave with - so second and/or third pulls. They ...
