Goddess Sculpture and Mold Making

There's been a gap in posting as the whole household has been incapacitated with the flu - we had to completely cancel all Christmas and New Year plans, and we still aren't back to normal. But I'm at least feeling well enough, finally, to sit at the computer for a few hours. Not able to focus to read books, but I can set the computer screen to 200% and manage to get some typing done!

I completed my Goddess sculpture in polymer clay. Have to say she turned out really nice! I blended four colours of clay - a couple were very old and crumbly so ended up crushing them and kneading into a couple of fresh packs of clay (keeping costs down using old stuff up.)

Once she was finished and baked I started building the 2-part mold in the studio with Shirley's help. Only got side one done (as shown) - I was planning to go back before Christmas to finish the other side, and try to cast one, but ended up stuck home. I am hoping to feel well enough (fingers crossed for later this week!) to get back in the studio to get it finished.

It is a silicone mold with plaster reinforcement. I plan to cast around half a dozen figures in different colours/textures and possibly different materials.

Also, I hope to be able to experiment with casting in glass at my own studio and a friend's - a core cast maybe. New techniques to me, but if they turn out will be amazing! And possibly change my concept for my artwork for this year's project.
