Final Critique before our Year End Show

Image
Yesterday we (Year 1 & 2) had our final critique of the year. We presented our body of work that we wished to exhibit and/or asked for advice and input on what should be the focus, or explained what we thought we needed to mount the art, etc. It was wonderful to see what everyone's been up to and will be presenting at our show on June 15-17th, in room 108, Roland Levinsky Building, University of Plymouth. Hours are: June 15th Opening is 5-7 pm, and Friday & Saturday 11 am to 5 pm. My approach to this critique was to get everyone's input on which works I should feature. I was thinking to have two sets - one that featured works that evoked a mood and another that showcased my use of botanical materials in the printing processes. I put up what I brought, clipping them to long strings I'd put on the wall. I had examples of single prints, a few series (multiple of the same...

The prints continue coming...

We are gearing up for our year end show now. I need a collective body of work to put in. At this point I'm planning two sets of prints - one that is "moods" which will be prints I pulled that have a strong feel to them, most of which have no real detail in them; the other set will be prints where I used botanical bits (grasses, leaves, seed-heads, etc.) to create the images.  I will be keeping it brief... maybe half a dozen in each set. We have our critiques on May 25th and I really am hoping my cohorts and tutors will provide me with a lot of feedback because my vision tanked almost a month ago, and I've still got a three week wait for treatment. We are starting our installation in three weeks! So I need to have my selections made before I can see clearly. Last session in the studio I pulled several different pieces. On some I only pulled the first press as I wanted to get as many variations as I could that day. On others I did pull ghosts as I really liked the first...
